Zarina was admitted as an attorney in 1987 in the Cape Provincial Division. As a general practitioner in the litigation department as an attorney she dealt with many aspects of civil litigation.
Currently, Zarina practices as an attorney in labour law and occupational health and safety law on her own account. She was previously a Group Labour Law Advisor to a large Chemical Corporation from 1997 to 2000.
Zarina is an accredited Commissioner for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) and is currently a panellist on the arbitrator’s panel for numerous bargaining councils. She has extensive experience in conducting disciplinary hearings, investigations in the workplace and grievance hearings. She sits as a Disciplinary Committee Member for theLaw Society. She has trained extensively and held workshops in all aspects of labour law, arbitration and conflict management.
Zarine was previously a panellist for the Centre for Dispute Resolution on the construction sites for Medupi and Kusile, where she conducted section 188A Inquiry by Arbitrator processes, conciliations and arbitrations.
She was appointed as an Acting Judge at the Labour Court, Johannesburg, in December 2012.
