Shiraz is an accredited Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) mediator; arbitrator and facilitator and has further been accredited on NQF level 5 Arbitrator and a level 6 mediator.
He has provided training on behalf of the CCMA and in his own capacity to trade unions and line management. He has developed a “needs analysis” dispute management interactive training programme, which has been successfully utilised by mining houses. Shiraz was awarded the CCMA national “Best Performing Part Time Commissioner” award for 2008. Since 2005, Shiraz has been a part-time commissioner at the CCMA, producing the highest settlement rates in Northern Cape.
He has also been on the panel of mediators and arbitrators for numerous bargaining councils. Shiraz serves on the board of trustees at the Frances Baard Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises Trust. He is the CEO of the Kgosi Lodge Group, a chain of property development and accommodation establishments. Shiraz has, therefore, a conspectus of experience in Academia; Union training and related issues as well as experience as a businessman himself giving him the edge in the understanding of dispute resolution and management processes.
