Shaam has over two decades of experience as a CCMA Commissioner in the role of trainer, facilitator, mediator, arbitrator and mentor to new commissioners. She has also sat in the capacity of commissioner for several bargaining councils. She has trained in the fields of managing dismissals, substantive labour law, conciliation skills, organisational rights and discrimination.

Shaam has deep experience in conducting section 189A facilitations in a sensitive and legally compliant manner as well as facilitated and mediated many wage disputes. She has a special interest in and knowledge of organisational rights, job grading, performance bonuses, skills development and understanding the financials of companies. 

Shaam has also conducted many section 188A Inquiry by Arbitrator processes.

Shaam has a special interest in disputes concerning discrimination and sexual harassment.
