Nerine is an admitted attorney but truly believes that communicating, mediation and brains are a better way to resolve conflict than litigation. Her extensive experience in running and establishing governance systems for businesses in government, being a thought leader and influencing legislation and policy in the employment law arena, together with her people centred approach to all things, places her in a unique position to influence the  next generation of  conflict resolution .

She holds a BA LLB and postgraduate diploma in labour law. She is a trained mediator and facilitator having completed (and subsequently trained and designed) the CCMA training course, now recognised as NQF 5. Nerine has written various papers and books on a vast area of subjects in governance, conflict, and employment law. She has also presented and spoken on these subjects in different fora across the world. She has worked both in private legal practice and government. In government she was chief director for Labour Relations (6 years), Acting Compensation Commissioner and CCMA National Director (10 years). She was recognised in that role as most influential woman in Business and Government in Southern Africa, and the organisation won numerous awards during her tenure. She was intimately involved in all major strikes and their resolution during her role as CCMA director. Currently she runs her own business an Employment Relations, Management and Governance consultancy, where she advises, mediates, and facilitates in relation to her vast experience on Employment, Political and Governance disputes.

She also sits on St Stithian’s College council chairing its governance committee, as well also being on the board of Democracy Works foundation and African Potential Foundation.
