Magwayi is a consultant in the employee relations field and runs a consulting company aimed at enhancing pertinent stakeholder and shareowner relationships to make day-to-day management more meaningful and make the business odds more favourable.
The thrust of his approach is based on the policy-driven beneficiary/fiduciary relationship inherent in all organisations.
Magwayi’s career started in 1987 when he joined the Chamber of Mines Industrial Relations Department. The Head of the Department by then was Johan Liebenberg, who acted as the Chamber’s Industrial Relations Advisor. Since then, he has gained valuable experience in both the public and private sectors. He has worked at Consol (Pty) Ltd, MSD Pharmaceuticals, Ariel Technologies, Datatec (Pty) Ltd, and South African Airways Technical (Pty) Ltd.
Magwayi is an accredited family law mediator and a member of the South African Association of Mediators (SAAM), serving on its Executive Committee. He is also the Chairperson of the Department of Trade & Industry (“the DTI”) Collective Bargaining Forum and a panellist at the General Public Services Sector Bargaining Council (GPSSBC). He previously served as a commissioner at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), and as a Panellist Member with the National Bargaining Council for the Chemical Industry and the Road & Freight Bargaining Council.
In addition to his professional roles, MM is the Board Chairperson of a non-profit organisation based in Pretoria that provides care and support to HIV-AIDS infected and affected children. He was also an accredited court-annexed family law mediator with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development during its pilot project from 2017 to 2019, which offered mediation services to parties involved in family law disputes.
