John Robertson is an attorney and an accredited mediator. He has extensive mediation and arbitration experience and is a founding member of Tokiso’s Commercial Mediation Panel. John acts as an arbitrator and mediator on a private basis and as a panellist for a range of dispute resolution forums and bargaining councils. He is based in the Eastern Cape and  available for work in that province and in Tshwane/Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. He is CEDR accredited. 

As lecturer, external examiner and moderator, John has been involved in academia for over 30 years. He currently moderates a course in Alternative Dispute Resolution at Rhodes University and recently taught Labour Law on a part-time basis. He was senior lecturer and Head of Department at the Faculty of Africa and Democracy Studies University of Fort Hare in the 80s and 90s. 

John participates actively in the community especially in the environmental sphere. He was the Chairperson of the board of trustees of Umthathi Training Project Makhanda and served on the board of Trustees of the Independent Development Trust. Currently he is the chairperson of the Environmental Monitoring Committee for the Coega IDZ and Port of Nqura, Gqeberha.
