Itumeleng Williams is an alternative dispute resolution specialist who has served on mediation and arbitration panels of internationally acclaimed entities such as Independent Mediation Services of South Africa and Arbitration and Mediation Services of South Africa.
He has rendered successful facilitation and mediation processes to clients across South Africa including South African Airways, Eskom, Unisa, Great Basin Gold Mine, Blyvoort Mine, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), TETI, a transnational company and major contractor to Sanral, ABI and the taxi industry when violence culminated in the closure of taxi ranks in Johannesburg. He has in the recent past driven the successful facilitation process between City of Johannesburg and stakeholders on the issue of Informal Trade following a Constitutional Court injunction.
The arbitration services he renders cut across a number of sectors of the economy and include both the public and private sector. Some of the parties to these arbitration processes were leading blue-chip multinational corporations, parastatals and prominent unions in South Africa. It is a regular occurrence for Itumeleng to preside over complex matters where both sides are represented by legal teams consisting of instructing attorneys and advocates. He is a commissioner in numerous Bargaining Councils. Itumeleng holds B.Proc and LLB degrees from University of Limpopo, formerly University of the North. He was on the national labour law training panel of Lexis Nexis until this unit was phased out recently and trained various municipalities in South Africa on collective bargaining, Employment Equity Act and Skills Development Act this past year.
