Iqbal is an admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa with over 30 years of legal experience, specialising in litigation, property law, and alternative dispute resolution. His extensive expertise spans constitutional, administrative, and property law, making him a highly respected practitioner in complex legal and arbitration matters. He has engaged extensively in Road Accident Fund (RAF) litigation, acting for both plaintiffs and RAF.
An accomplished arbitrator and mediator, Iqbal has completed numerous specialised courses in dispute resolution. Several of his arbitration awards have been published in the Butterworths Law Reports, underscoring his legal proficiency and credibility in the field. He holds a Master of Science in Building and Housing, which has deepened his knowledge of property law and social housing policy.
His academic background includes lecturing at the University of Johannesburg and contributing to housing research focused on informal settlements. Iqbal has served in multiple leadership and adjudication roles, including Chairperson of Valuation Boards (Gauteng), Deputy-Chairperson of the Development Appeal Tribunal, and panellist for the GMBA and SARS Tax Board.
