Gerhard De Kock

Gerhard de Kock is an advocate of the High Court, a mediator, arbitrator and adjudicator. Gerhard is a former member of the Cape Bar and served on the Cape Bar Council for two terms during his membership.

Gerhard is a Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) internationally accredited commercial mediator and a Fellow member of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa).

In 2003 Gerhard was appointed as the first Internal Ombudsman in the financial services industry in South Africa, a position he held for seven years. Gerhard has also served as presiding officer in numerous disciplinary hearings, in both the initial and appeal stages.

Gerhard serves as an arbitrator and adjudicator in construction and building disputes and as an arbitrator in inter-insurer claims in the short-term insurance industry. Gerhard also serves as a conciliator and adjudicator for the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) in Cape Town.

Gerhard is a former Chairman of the Independent Health Complaints Committee of the Western Cape and is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.
