Faan Coetzee is a practicing attorney, a member of the Legal Practice Council and past Chairperson of the Johannesburg Attorneys Association.

He has been practicing in all fields of individual and collective employment law since 1986. He is experienced in:

  • acting as an arbitrator in disciplinary matters
  • chairing disciplinary and grievance enquiries
  • investigating alleged misconduct and representing employers at disciplinary and grievance enquiries
  • interpreting forensic reports and presenting evidence at disciplinary proceedings and arbitrations
  • chairing temporary and permanent incapacity proceedings

He has extensive experience in employment law and employee benefits such as retirement benefits and medical aid matters and advising and acting on behalf of corporates.

Faan has been an acting judge in the Labour Court for various terms and has extensive experience in conducting arbitrations and chairing disciplinary enquiries.

He was admitted as an attorney in 1976 and has practiced in all fields of the law including short-term insurance law. He acted for various short-term insurance companies from 1974 to 1986 and has extensive experience in the field of third-party insurance matters.

Faan practiced as a litigation attorney in both the High Courts and arbitration tribunals since 1974.
