Adv Eric Nwedo joined the Johannesburg Society of Advocates on 1 December 2015. He holds chambers at Group One Advocates in Sandton.

In October 2019, Eric successfully completed a Mediation Training Course cum laude through AFSA (Arbitration Foundation of SA) and was accredited as a mediator.  In December 2020, Eric successfully completed a Certificate in Pension Funds Programme cum laude at the University of South Africa.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Eric was an executive in the Employment Relations division of one of the leading banks in South Africa and he was responsible for the bank’s HR Legal matters in the African Continent covering (nineteen) 19 African countries in the western, eastern, southern and central regions.  Overall, Eric has 18 years of Legal and HR Legal / Labour Relations experience in various sectors of the economy such as banking, hotel and casino, mining, ER consulting, academia and the public sector.

Eric lectured Labour Law on part-time basis at the University of South Africa School of Business Leadership (SBL, Midrand) between 2003 and 2005.  He is a regular Guest Lecturer in the Advanced Labour Law Programme at the University of Pretoria lecturing on strikes, lockouts and protest action.  He has co-developed and lectures a course, which is aimed at assisting institutions to manage sexual harassment cases effectively at the workplace delivered through Enterprises at the University of Pretoria. He is a member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa (“IoDSA”).  He is also a member of the South African Society of Labour Lawyers (“SASLAW”) and Pension Funds Lawyers Association (“PLA”).

On a regular basis, Eric conducts complex investigations into a wide range of areas. He chairs complex disciplinary, poor-work performance and sexual harassment enquiries for large corporate companies, multinationals, municipalities and State-Owned Entities.  He has also been appointed ad hoc to prosecute complex disciplinary enquiries. He has also represented several clients in labour litigation matters at the Labour Court, CCMA and Bargaining Councils. Eric was awarded the 2016 SASLAW (Johannesburg) Award for ongoing support for the SASLAW Pro Bono project for successfully representing an indigent litigant at the Labour Court.
