Carlene January-Wright is an admitted attorney since 2013 and an internationally accredited mediator. Before joining Tokiso, she worked as an attorney for a medium-sized law firm and thereafter in a large insurance company in their legal department. She managed the ADR portfolio in that insurance firm, which included managing multiparty agreements and the resolution of related disputes. Carlene was the previous chairperson of the Transformation Committee at the insurance company and the chairperson of the Environmental Monitoring Committee at Medupi Power Station from 2020 to 2022.
Carlene has a special interest in facilitation and mediation in multi-party stakeholder environments. She also chairs disciplinary enquiries, grievance hearings, performance hearings, and appeal hearings. She has conducted independent investigations, and verification and election processes. Carlene has experience training in disciplinary procedures and facilitating workshops on sexual harassment and discrimination. She has sat on a governing body of a public school.
Carlene is a member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces and previously a member and deputyTreasurer for NADEL (National Association of Democratic Lawyers), Johannesburg Branch.
