Ahmed Shabir Mayet is a lawyer who specialised in human rights and public interest litigation at the Johannesburg Legal Resources Centre ( LRC). He joined LRC as a specialist attorney and went on to become the director of the Constitutional Litigation Unit.
He obtained a master’s degree in Constitutional law and Human Rights and a Higher Diploma in Labour Law from the University of Witwatersrand (Wits).
He served on the panel of IMSSA and later AMSSA (precursors to Tokiso) where he presided over labour disputes, community land disputes, mediation and arbitration.
Ahmed served as head of the Gauteng Consumer Court for two terms. He was also called to the bench where he served as acting judge of the labor Court and the High Court in Johannesburg.
